Counterfeit Dunn

An Arrival In Reform Street
By Gordon Strachan

Inspired by 'A Removal From Terry Street' by Douglas Dunn

The truck pulled in, out of the back came
As one might expect
The furniture, cabinets, toaster and knives.
A boy and his sister playfully argue
Over who had the ball first.
The boy, dressed in jeans, pulls her hair. The father
Lifting his daughter onto his back. The boy cries.
Glad to welcome this wischief we are not.
The mother carries gardening tools,
Still in fine condition, unmuddied.
Their garden is but a wasteland. The weeds
Crop up unruly and unordered from the ground
Good luck to the woman I say. I wish her flowers.

W00t guys- how much fun was last night??

Scotlands poetry festival is officially launched (yes, alrigt, its almost two months too early, but what the hell?) and how good was it?? I actually want opinions now..

I would, personally, have really loved to have read the poems as well, like afterwards.. If I could even have remember the names of the poets...?? Yeah, well.

In all fairness, Douglas Dunn really isn't a public speaker.. I think he stank at the actual speaking bit, but the reading of the poetry was rather good.

Anna Crow was indifferent in her speech style, she read and introduced well.. But I would still like to see the poems in print.

Richard Holoway was ACE! He has a really good speaking voice and it carried excellently. You could tell he was enjoying himself and the poems he chose were really good.

Yup, well, thats me..

*gets depressed*

*is running out of things 2 reply*

*laughs evily*

*becomes happier when realising suzi woz probably at skool 2day and sarah got 2 go and play in the snow*

*sobs uncontrollably when hears this devastating news*

*smiles when reasilses how much misery she can cause a friend*

*cries harder when she realises that this so called "Friend" is more interested in causing misery than being nice. decides se cant hack much more of it and gets out a... big stick... *

*feels vaguely sympathetic for friend...but not much when remembers she is on other side of country*
*hopes will not b charged with man slaughter when friend kills herself with stick and police look at internet conversations*

*friend questions* why? *and then decides top attack the house with afoementioned stick*

*friend feels sorry for the lack of snow on other side of country and hopes its not caused too much psycological damage*

*friend seeks counselling for the damage lack of snow and friend who gloats has caused. reaslises that she is getting training (in a couple of years) to GIVE therapy and runs screaming. sits in corner of room rocking.*

*friend has 2 leave conversation now but hopes she will still b around next time i am online and has not caused severe damage 2 herself, anyone else or any property*

*she will, unless has consigned herself to the horror that homework brings.. shudders*

*she signs out of msn*

Gordo and Siouxsie's productive english lesson..

(Gordo = blue writing, Siouxsie = purple)

I remembered my tie- aren't you proud?

Your tie? Whats this about a tie?

I forgot to put my tie on yesterday- it was in the wash or something... but i got it today!

tee hee hee! You big crazy hippy! I'm afraid I didn't really notice thoug. Sorry! Hey, what do you think of the snow? It's groovy in Tayport but pathetic here!

It was not so groovy in Newport, quite pathetic in places really, but dude, SNOW!! Yippeeeeeeeee!

Really? Aww... Well at quarter to twelve last night, it was at its peak. It was awesome! I'm just hoping its still there when we get home.

Yeah! What were you doing up at 11.45 last night- eh? I was going to sleep at that point, after doing an entire afternoon / evening (minus an hour for tea and family fun games- which actually were fun, Dad got Frustration and Meggie- Uno Extreme, for their birthdays... I went a bit crazy...) doing homwork.

Dude, that sounds so cool!! Not the homework bit of course, but you know what I mean. Yeah, I'm always up at that time. Rarely go to bed before 12. I just don't need much sleep. If I went earlier I'd probably just lie there frustrated that I'm not sleeping. It's really not a big deal for me. Honest!

No- I know, you've explaned that before, I just end up going to bed and not being able to sleep really well before 11.30-12 ish... It's what being a teenager is all about- late nights and unable to get up in the morning... wouldn't it be ace if school started at like 11 or something? (ooh, but then it'd go on for ever...)

Yeah, we wouldn't leave til 5! Nooo! Well, It could be worse, we could have it at weekends! I'm getting slightly panicky about my lazy approach to my work. I rarely use my study the way I should and I can't even be assed doing homework. I've slowed doen so much in the past few months!

oh noooo! Gordo, whatever is happening to you? I'm upset. But actually, I've done that too, although I'm doing more now- Just, often I can't be buggered to do anything so I go make badges or crads or whatever, but just not homework. oh well, it sucks a bit really, but nevermind. Anyhoo- something sparky to talk about... Any ideas?

Good point, lets not moan about these things. Are you scared of Boohbahs?

Good-o. No, I'm not scared of Boohbahs- I rather think they are lovely amiable creature capable of being kind and friendly. They do NOT have fangs, they are NOT bloodthirsty andthey certaily don't eat people. They are insane and an acid trip in a programme, but hey, thats all to the good...

But they just stare at you, drilling holes in your head. If they didn't have the bumps on their heads, they might be cute, but what lies beneath that mysterious flap of skin is terrifying!

aaaw, no, poor little bohbahs. The bumps are just ... scarred spots. they are quite sensitive. I mean, how would you like to be mocked because your bald and fat and an unusual colour? (oh, wait... )
They hide insidetheir fluff because they are shy. And scared. Like Hedgehogs do.

Hmm, Hedgehogs are another thing. I'm kidding, I like hedgehogs, but the don't spin insanely to bright lights and have independently moving eyes!

HA HA HA.

The Rabbit's prophesy

A rabbit once said to me
As I passed him by one day
He told me not to laugh and shout
As I go along my way

When I argued with him
The rabbit, he got irate
For he had warned a thousand folk
Of the fearsome pirate

Now listen good and listen well
The quiet rabbit said
For this pirate, by name of Neville
Had shoes of fiery red.

But I did not listen, and I should have had
For now I lie here dead
For when I met this fearsome dude
I foolishly called him Fred

"O! Fool of fools! You marvellous cretin!"
The fashionable pirate did say
You have mistaken my name dear boy
And for this sin you'll pay

I was cut into a thousand bits
Without a care for hygiene
And in the distance, the rabbit laughed
For nothing rhymed with hygiene
